Pastor
Pastor Dickerson began the assignment of the Shepard of Orange Grove in April 2004 after 26 years as Pastor at Vance Street Baptist Church in Danville, Virginia. He is a true man of God who is anointed to preach the Word of God and to minister to the needs of the people of God. He does so with passion for the Word and compassion and love for the people.
H. L. Dickerson began his ministerial journey at Greater Triumph Baptist Church where he was licensed (1974) and ordained (1977) as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He holds a Bachelor of Theology from the Richmond Virginia Seminary. From the Jacksonville (Florida) Theological Seminary, he holds both a Master of Religious Arts in Theology and a Doctor of Theology degree. Pastor Dickerson is a member of the Kingdom Association of Covenant Pastors, Lott Carey Pastoral Excellence Program, and serves on the Durham Ministerial Alliance.
He is known locally and nationally as a dynamic preacher, who delivers a powerful, thought provoking, and practical message. He is a man whose spirit and character exhibit humility, yet who balances it with great wisdom and strength. He is highly respected, trusted and sought as a man who speaks the wisdom of God and teaches the message of God in a manner that is easily comprehended across all generational and ethnic lines. It is for this reason that he is regularly called to share a Word from the Lord through preaching and teaching; and who has quickly become a well-known and highly requested workshop and conference facilitator throughout the region.
Pastor Dickerson is blessed with a beautiful, praying woman of God in First Lady, Doris Dickerson. He is the father of Cha’Coby Dickerson and “Papa” of Cha’quoyia
